The Search for Disk on Wang

Based on an inappropes conversation I had at the Pit Christmas party, I've spent the past ten minutes googling things I am not proud of, in search of a picture of an 8" floppy disk hanging off of a guy's wang. Any guy, any disk. I don't want to see it, but I need to believe it is out there, because everything is out there.
Let's not try to figure out everything at once

making other plans

I busy, but then yesterday and today I not busy, so I cozy up on the couch with dumb tv. Lately I am obsessed with crime drama, British crime drama specifically, but I am happy with NCIS until my Wire in the Blood netflixes come. :)
Chris is installing a box in my room that will make it so that I can "watch instantly" the netflix movies. That is awesome. I live in an awesome amazing place.

I started teaching for the theater last week. Teaching is super fucking fun and very exhausting and I love it and Lord I hope I am good at it. I like it because I get to tell people not to chew gum or eat burritos during improv practice. It is a lesson a lot of people need to learn.

Also, I got a short story published in a literary magazine in Buffalo. I am enormously, possibly disproportionately proud of that. I'll admit it.

Why is it every time the cable tells me I'm watching Brian Regan's Epitome of Hyperbole it's not an awesome show that I want to watch but instead that asshole with the puppets? Eh? Anybody? I loves me some Regan.

I hoped and prayed for a specific something special to happen to some people I love and it fucking DID. And now I have all this hope and potential and happiness floating around. Want some? I probably won't use it. :)

a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water right about now

I forgot my battery charger, so, no pictures from this trip. Just nice memories of watching movies with my parents who talk through the experience: my dad mastering the obvious and my mom trying to figure out where she saw each actor before, and who they look like, and their kids names. And the awkward movie-boobie parts. Awkward, awkward movie-boobie parts. (note-Come Early Morning, Deep Evil, When a Stranger Calls Back, Because I said So, Goldeneye and The Foot Fist Way= NOT PARENT-SAFE. I couldn't get them to go for Spirited Away, Jess.)

I had the most fun in forever last night. It's good to be around people who make you laugh like a douche, which I do. When happy I laugh douchey. So I am thankful for that.

I am thankful for the following-
Good friends who are awesome and funny and smart and I like them and want to be more like them.
A good family, we aren't perfect but we're all lucky to have each other.
My "career", though it feels like I am treading buttermillk, I am maybe making cream.
The theater and all of its everything.
Chris's cats. Aw. So best.
This was not the best, easiest year for me, but I think it has made me take a good look at things and make changes inside and out. So I am grateful for the challenges and hard work and epiphanies.
baking soda and water is the best antacid ever. EVER.

There are more of course, but I don't need xgiving day to meow about it.

19 November 2008

I can't remember the last time I felt like this. Two years, maybe? Maybe a flicker a month ago that I quickly squashed like so much dusty spider. Maybe that part of my life is over. Maybe not. Maybe I'll blossom into a buxom cougar. Maybe I'll just be ok like this.
I'm compiling a list of things that turn my mood around no matter how down I am.

On it so far-
Under The Tuscan Sun
The Full Monty

"Big Country" by Big Country (shout outs to K.)

This here thinger, song and video, speaks to my heart.

This list, like everything else about me, is a work in progress.

Long story long

When I went home last I redirected my netflix to may parent's house so I could occupy myself on boring days (of which there turned out to be none.) My mom and dad didn't look at the envelope, so they put mine in, watched it and sent it back before I got there. It turned out to be the first season of Big Bang Theory, which they adored. I love it too, and so now when it airs we text each other with quotes from the show. Yeah, it's taking dork to a new level, but I am kind of ok with it. Last night my dad texted me, "What are you doing with Howard?" I hadn't seen it yet, but I assumed it was just some joke. Turns out he meant this http://www.imdb.com/media/rm586650880/nm0749081
Sara Rue is working again! That's good.

I started eating differently in the hopes I might start feeling better. I am jamming myself up with fruits and vegetables all day. I have been feeling horrible for two weeks, and it's gotten worse since this weekend. Migraine, hangovers without the drinking, and now fever and grossness. I am starting to feel the way I did right before I got the can't get out of bed for 8-days flu in February. Hate. Hate! I don't have time for this. I going to beds.

15 November 2008

Today is the day I go over to my old place and clean out the half of a closet I've been illegally storing my crap in, load it into a granny cart and lug it on the subway back here. Keep in mind, I should have done this in the spring. I woke up at 8:30 with a migraine and it is raining. So boo. But then my brother called and he was like "it's raining" so yay! but also I still have a migraine so ow. I should have taken care of this a long time ago, is the lesson here. I'm going to have to do it tomorrow, but hopefully I won't have a headache/rain problem.

I am so glad Garvey passed the bar! Next I come home to visit, this could be me.

11 November 2008

Oh, for God's sake, let them.
20 seconds of awesome.

This list
and also this make me wanna write mine own. I know it's a few weeks past halloweens, but like I said at the halloween happy hour, halloween lives in my heart year round.

so, my general list of best scary movies-

1. Prince of Darkness
I haven't seen it in a long time, but I think it might be my favorite of John Carpenter's Apocalypse trilogy. It is such a good bad movie that it might be the best bad movie. Turn off all the lights. If you can make it through 30 seconds of this, I'd like to hang out with you more. And don't be all "that's not scary" because bullshit. Whatever happened in that church was so horrific and life changing and so impossible to recover from that all scientists did after that night for 20 years was develop the technology to go back in time to stop what happened. I haven't seen it in a long time, maybe it doesn't hold up, but I remember loving it, and then watching it again later and still loving it. It's real scary, y'all. I would put it not just at the top of my favorite scary movies, but it's also in my top ten fave movies of all time. (Also there is this whole bit about "susan? radiologist? glasses?" which are three words that describe my mom, which was funny when I watched it with my brothers because we were all "that's mom lol." anyway.)

2. The Eye
Not the Jessica Alba version, be cause I haven't seen that one, the one in Mandarin. It is really really good. The third act is like, ok, whatever. But the scares are really good scares, the idea is amazing, the twist is not something you would really see coming and even though the end goes for "feel good movie" you kind of need it after everything you've been through. The trend in Asian horror to draw out the terror, not just to jump in your face but to make you sit with it, ride the elevator with it without talking, it's an amazing thing. There is definitely something that exists on the scale between drawn out suspense and the jump-scare, I wish film makers in the US would wake up to it.

3. The Thing
The first in Carpenter's apocalypse trilogy, arguably better than Prince of Darkness in terms of writing and performance, yet I still can't quite say it is my favorite. I might be a little clouded in my judgment based on sentimental value, since loving this movie was one of the few things I definitely have in common with my dad. He was always a Kurt Russel fan. Also, something I always loved about The Thing was the lack of CGI effects. Puppetry and rivers of corn syrup made it a much more visceral experience than whatever torture porn is out there now.

I just killed a centipede! While writing this! Gross.

There are more, I will maybe write about them later.

09 November 2008

So I am about to have sex with a woman for the first time and I am very nervous. Before we start I sneak into the enormous bathroom of the hotel room in the hotel where everyone I know is staying for some reason. I start very carefully shaving my legs, because I haven't in a long time and I didn't want to gross her out. So I am shaving my legs in the huge bathroom (like, ballroom sized. The sink was so far away it was blurry.) and the door opens, and everyone I know, admire and have been attracted to lately walks in the door and one of them says, "We got tired of waiting, so we brought the orgy to you."

And then I woke up.

Of course I did.

08 November 2008

I neglected to mention that i got the video in the post below from videogum. Though I somehow feel like posting that same viral video as someone else doesn't count as plagiarism, I still feel the need to say so. So I say.
Speaking of viral, I am at the beginning of the awful cold that all of my friends have had/are having. Yargh. Do not want. I can't stand being sick.

06 November 2008

This sums up how I feel about the election pretty well:

To walk through Manhattan after the Obama victory, in a city where he won 84% of the vote? That is something I won't soon forget.

28 October 2008

Last Saturday my parents took me to Wyoming County to see the leaves, which was my dad's sneaky way of showing my the wind farm, because he's somehow obsessed with them. He gave me a bunch of useless facts I don't remember, but I am glad he's into clean energy sources (that look like something out of a Speilberg movie). It was neat, and the foliage was gorge, as per. We went to an Amish store with a restaurant attached. I bought double salt pretzels. We had lunch at the little diner attached. Nothing cost more than 4 dollars, my dad ordered a burrito, it had pickles in it.

24 October 2008

Old School

My mom and dad and I spent the morning watching my netflix and then i had to just be in a room alone for a while and nap my brains out. I love them so dearly and yet I can only take them for about 15 minutes. My mom is retired and my dad is out of work recovering from surgery, so everybody be all up in my cheese fries asking me a lot of questions and not waiting for the answers.

This afternoon I walked for an hour around the neighborhood, partly just to get a breather from my parentals but mostly to get some exercise and see some stuff. I walked to my grammar school. It looks as small as it should have, and was not as far away as it seemed when I was a kid. I know I'm a foot taller, but I also walk a lot more, I guess. I dunno. The leaves were perf. I listened to good music and walked through the park. It was pretty lovely. Good vacation, you guys. I don't want to go back to work. Pray with me that I get laid off as soon as I walk in the door on Monday.

22 October 2008

I picked the best week ever to be here! The leaves are AMAZING! And it's great. And calm. And I get to be around the kiddos when they do their homeworks, and have normal dinners and just be. No work! I wanted this to be an absolute vacation from everything, but then I spent the morning shooting a funny promo full of skitches and skatches for my sister's mommy support group. No rest for the terminally goofy.

This is awesome. I went to the mall! I don't even know what day it is!
Ok it's wednesday, but I don't know the date! Screw you, job!

14 October 2008

Last night I tried to see a free screening of trick r treat at the pioneer. My name was on the list and everything! and after waiting on line for an hour and a half, they had overbooked it and we ended up just leaving. Worst movie premiere ever. I got to see Dylan Baker and the James Marsden was buying popcorms, and celebrity sightings are always a good time.

I am almost going to be on vacation soon. Can it be now and last forever, please?

I'm not sure what to write here anymore! Weird! I used to pop on here ten times a day to meow meow about my bullshit. Also, my personal life is feeling kind of personal.

09 October 2008

Beepbop.
I'm overextended! Work stresses me out so much that I've developed a twitch in my arms and legs. Halloween time is good, and I can run a mile in a shorter time than I used to be able to run a mile. (not at all.)
Other than that everything is copasexic.

Rando photos! Any of these would make a fine desktop wallpaper.
My computer at home is now kind of over. The power cord is frayed to the point of sparking. I can't afford a new one right now so I've become one of those people who "jump on your computer for a minute". It's better maybe? To unplug a bit? I feel like maybe yeah, it is. I don't have much to say here anyway. My shows are good. My sketch show closed. It was amazing and I am proud of it. I was cast in a new short play about riot grrl bands in the early 90s. It's exciting. I played D&D for the first time since I was a kid. It was awesome, you guys. Why don't we play this always? My job is weird and wrong but also fine.
Otherwise, life is good and boring and nice and plain.

FYI-My roommate filled up my ipod with 47gigs of music I've never heard before, as a result, all I've been listening to since Monday is "Explosions in the Sky". Look it up. Load it down. Insert earbuds. Run in the autumn mist. Love life.

17 September 2008

this is good. It's good for us.

Work is tense, yes, in case you were wondering, yes, tense and weird. The only think I am being told is "it's really good for the company and even better for the clients!" I've been involved in so many conversations about real estate and the dow and the market and the fed and the meowmeow, i spend most of them calculating how long I have to stand there to be considered polite before I find something else to do. People walked through the office yesterday, talking about how they were going to chop up the space into two offices. Like, in front of us.
"What you are doing here is strange," my smile said. "We know," their smiles said.

I haven't spent any money on anything other than bills and groceries since Friday. There is something really awesome and valuable in doing that. Some people, of course, live this way all the time, bless them. I never really have except out of necessity. It's hard, but it's good for me. Doing things that are good for me is my new thing. Kickboxing, going to bed early, keeping my living space clean . . . I basically want credit for doing things I should have been doing all along.

I should have stayed to watch the 930 show tonight. I am a poo. I think I have to miss a bachelorette party this weekend, too. I have a lot of guilty feelings. What does a person do for that? Other than drink, because I can't afford that.

13 September 2008

One of those newish Coldplay songs was playing at the deli when I was waiting for my bagel this morning and you know what? I think, today, I am finally ok with liking coldplay. I resisted for some reason for a long time, but I tell ya . . . whatever it was that was playing in the deli was pretty good. I felt like I was in an episode of Grey's Anatomy, and who doesn't want that for their lives?

Also, I've been coming home after being out late and blogging while tipsy. Can you tell? I can! It happens.

11 September 2008

Sometimes, during kickboxing, the teacher gives me kind encouragement while I am running, and I do the Rocky-style air punching, and oh the straight-laced fincnacey people keep their gamefaces on. And also, I stay at the end of the line when we are doing laps because I am healthy but slow, and they all seem to (actually they do this) lap the room and come around behind me, I act like I am being chased! Oh what a curious panda I am! And then the teacher demonstrates a kick and some douche pretends he is doing The Crane from The Karate Kid and only then are we really, truly jokeboxing.
regarding a video we made of Tracey's awful, bleeding cancerhole:

You need to put that up on youtube.
I'm wondering though, is it really funny or interesting enough to put up on youtube?
No one who has ever put anything up on youtube has ever asked themselves that.

08 September 2008

A piece of advice! When you are cutting cheese! While sitting on the couch! And watching House! Use a plate!

I damn near bled to death!

05 September 2008

I'm only about a half hour in, but I can definitively say Black Christmas is the best Christmas-themed slasher flick of all time: past, present and future. I smell a new family tradition! Seriously, Margot Kidder is in it, and she's amazing.

Also, the other day we went over to my brother's to play seven hours or so of a little rpg. and I liked it, ok? I liked it! The roadhouse whiskey on his breath and all that dirty touchin'. \

I really have had it up to an area well above my forehead with star wars bullshit, but this is intensely, amazing cool and makes me strangely happy.

Also-I read Twilight. Every. Page. Gah. I do it to myself!
The 14 year old in me melted at all the appropriate moments. The grown up in me yelled and screamed, "get out of her bedroom! she's never had a boyfriend! she's only seventeen! YOU'RE NINETY! THE PAYOFF IS NOT WORTH THE BUILD UP!!! THIS PROSE IS AWKWARD AND TRITE!"
But now I know what all that facebook flair is referring to, so that's good.

22 August 2008

Escape from Past Mountain

Please watch this video that I made with my sketch group and my friend Kevin who edited it to make it so cool. I am super proud of it.

Last Friday I slipped on the subway steps and now my hip sometimes is like "no."
I am going to sue the Essex and Delancey stop on the F, the train itself, gravity, the rain, my tractionless shoes and my left leg for being shorter than the right, and the right for being longer than the left. I'm talking PAYDAY.

19 August 2008

I've been pretty tight with my money lately, out of necessity (and a very probable, very soon layoff) but i decided to get myself a treat. I bought Twilight (that book all the kids are reading), and the two most recent Dear Dumb Diary books. The bookstore where I go has a section with pretty colors and some other section i've never been to.

txt to mo-
"I'm reading Twilight. I'm twelve."
txt back-
"but twelve in your thirties is so much more fun!"

It's true.

Tap class was canceled, so now I have to pet the cats, cook up some dinner and read a good book all night. I also have the second season of Spaced on dvd that i already watched, but I am not ready to part with it yet.
I don't have a huge urge to post here anymore. Happiness, i presume?

11 August 2008

My internet is spotty at best at my new place. For some reason, my computer won't talk to the router, so i have to "borrow" wireless from a faceless neighbor. You only go to the sites you really need when they take 2 full minutes to load. And really, it would be good for me to get my face out of the internet and read a book or something.

I do need a new computer. Maybe I can cash in a few of these wishes I have lying around.

Whatever, it's totally fine. If that is all I have to complain about, then consider it a good day. I can't get over what a good feeling it is to come home now. I used to dread it so. I can't believe how depressed that other place made me. Ladies at work even say they can see it in my face how much happier I seem, but I think that might also be all the other stuff I am doing.*

*drugs.

05 August 2008

Things are good and hectic. Right now, they're ok. I took tonight to do nothing and let that be ok.

I moved Saturday morning, thank all that is good and holy. Then I went to baltimore with he same guys I went to Philly with and had amazing crabcakes, showed up in the last hour of the festival and did a pretty crazy funny show, bar, bar, room party, 3 hours of sleep and then drove back to Sunnyside. Last night I was supposed to sort out my room but it was my brother's birthday, so we went to chat and chew and we chatted and chewed. I am a zombie, but that's ok. I am in a good place, I think. I'm out of the hellhole, I'm doing a lot of creative things, eating what I want, working out a bunch, reading a good book. Tomorrow is my bday. Life is a slice of all right.

01 August 2008

11:02pm- 90% finished packing. I still have to throw together my kitchen stuff. I started at 9pm. Is that normal?

30 July 2008

I have this silly habit of sometimes pointing out to people when they are abusing or neglecting their children. I just have to. It's annoying, and I doubt it helps, but I can't just walk by when someone wallops a little kid. Today I almost got my ass kicked by an entire southern family. I guess the big thing is to come to NY, beat your kids while you pay your respects at ground zero and then see Xanadu.
"Why don't you mind your fucking business, slut."
how did he know?

Then I went to the theater and did a show wearing a fake mustache. My life is nonsense.

21 July 2008

rounding third

There is nothing on television, like, ever. Right now I am watching ER that for some reason on this channel comes in black and white.

I got rid of 3 bags of clothes yesterday. I really don't have that much to begin with, now I have less. I can't say for sure, but I think packing up for this move is going to take half a day, tops. I have such a small space that I never really unpacked that much from the last move. Pretty easy peasy. I don't know why I think the new place will be so much better, but I do. Just knowing there will be someone I trust there makes a difference. Though, since my roomie got the boot I've been waltzing around in my unnerpants. So, points for that, depending on how you feel about such things.

Here are neat things I like:

Amazing weird, crazy pictures. love them.

Feist does Sesame Street

Sesame Street does Law and Order SVU

Almost home!

19 July 2008

If you're in a better place then you were never here

I sang a song and it was pretty ok. The band was amazing and people were supportive and what a crazy amazing thing to do that was. Yeah, I can't "sing", I know. It's ok. Nobody died. It was fun, in fact. And everyone was amazing and now it's 3:40 am and since I'm not in a sid viscous hotel room then I should probably go to bed.

14 July 2008

My hollywood ending

So, a few months ago my friends approached me and asked me to write a song with them for this show they were doing. So we did. And now I get to sing it on Friday. It is so cool and so amazing that a person said to me "what kind of song would you want to sing?" and then made music exactly like what I wanted only better in a way that when I heard it I fell in love and then I got to write lyrics to it and now it gets to be mine, which is a pretty amazing gift. Now, I am going to shut up about how whiny my lyrics are and how bad my voice is and how terrible I am going to look and just accept and appreciate this gift because it is pretty damn amazing. When will I ever get to have this experience again? I am betting on never. You better believe I am going to enjoy it.

I know when I die I am going to laugh about all of the things I stressed out about, but for right now I am going to chew my nails and apologize too much. It's my way.

(the longest pause in the world.)

cabbie: I give massage, but here you need to go to school get degree. I give you good.

(the second longest pause in the world)

me: so how much is that?
cabbie: seventeen dollars. I wish I could rub your feet for you.
me: (two dollar tip.) (door slam.)

05 July 2008

Home is a funny thing.

I had a rehearsal in a different part of Brooklyn today. I left an hour and a half early. I took the G to the L, which I took to 6th ave where I transferred to the F which took me to a station a few blocks from my friend's place. As I walked to the exit, I saw a G pull into the station. It helps to check maps.

I've been in Brooklyn for a week, which has been really good considering my home situation right now. Kind of awkward, actually. I think my landlady may have evicted my roommate based on some things I said. Now, I'm moving because I do not like the place, and her contribution to my discomfort has been about a third. I told my landlady to please not do that because of me, but I haven't heard from anyone in a few days. It's exactly what I didn't want. No passive aggressive girls, no drama, no smelly food and no one I didn't know. I ended up with all of that and only one outlet to work with.

I'm staying the night at my brother's tonight because they are in Buffalo getting my parents ready to move out of their house. After 22 years my parents have finally caved and are moving into a smaller place. As painful a change it's going to be for everybody, it's ultimately the best thing for them. It's cheaper, and fewer stairs for my mom to navigate. It won't feel like a better thing, but it will be. I don't know how I feel about it yet. It doesn't seem real that when I go home I won't be going to Linden anymore.

A dvr'd episode of Ghost Hunters is playing in the background right now. There is something about this place that feels more like home than anywhere else right now. My new thing is going to be finding this feeling in a place where my stuff lives, too.

01 July 2008

I am house/cat sitting right now. I am a little freaked out to be alone in a strange place. I actually ordered chinese food. I NEVER do that. It wasn't that good. I am a bigger baby than I think I am. Beepbeepbeep. These kittens are sure cute.

I went to take a look at my new apartment. Cross your fingers. The room is about 4 times the size of my current space, same money, on-site laundry and a kind, good-person grownup guy I am already friends with will be my roommate. No huge deposit. These are all good things. I can keep my couch! Here's to hoping i don't screw it up!

Oh. So many noises outside. Want to come over? Semi-Seriously. Do you?

29 June 2008

The pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache

Between driving to Rhode Island with my friend Kevin where we silently agreed our shared music taste would be "classic rock" and singing "Synchronicity II" on my way out of the door of a party tonight, (rockband-style) I am definitely re-obsessed with The Police. I am going to start listening to them exclusively, on my non-existent ipod.

(Also, I made flat bread with tampenade and goat cheese that was simple and excellent.)

28 June 2008

I had a pretty amazing 24 hours, partying the party I wanted to party.

I am delicious

The light in my kitchen is out, and the ceiling is far too tall for either of us to change the bulb, so until I can scam a ladder I've been trying to just finish whatever I need in there before sundown. Like the pilgrims did. The good thing is, while sorting out my dishes just now I looked out the window to my back yard, which is positively filled with fireflies. I would never have seen them had the light been working. There are more things I hate about summer than enjoy (namely, mosquito bites. Oh, hello two more.) but I love fireflies. I'm obviously an indoor kid, I make no apologies, but, it's like magic to me.

They don't love you like I love you

The funny thing about being a performer is, if some stranger walks up to you and asks you for your name and phone number and takes a picture of you, you do it. You don't even question it. Your only question is WHERE DO I SIGN? and SHOULD I BRING MY OWN WARDROBE?
I mean, that dude could have been anybody.

Last night on my way to the laundromatorium, I saw a young man and lady engage in their first kiss as a couple. It was sweet. I could tell it was their first kiss because it was focused and intense and tounguey and in front of The Pizzaria Uno. You don't get to see that a lot, do you? First kisses, I mean. I've witnessed a few, it's like watching a puppy yawn. It's not like an official thing that you congratulate, but it's definitely its own little miracle. That people can get it together enough to do it at all it a mystery to me, and I've done it. More than twice.

Oh, and I cut off all of my hair. Like, all. A lot of people seem to dig it, but I think I look like a gym teacher, so. Whatevs. I also lost all of my makeup recently, so I feel like it's the universe telling me I need to look a little doggy for a while. I am so ok with that it's disconcerting.

say it to me now

I'm supposed to write something for Friday, but I have no idea what I am doing or how and there is no way it's going to be good enough. Wish me luck.

I wish desperately that I could sleep past 5:30am, but recently I cannot. So I am going to go to the gym in a few minutes. That's hatey. (facebook friends online:0)

I wish it was fall instead of summer, I wish my bedroom was clean, I wish for unlimited wishes.

Watchin smallville, feelin nostalgic.

I finally looked into the gym at work. It is the most amazing, beautiful place I've ever worked out. They provide everything, all I need to bring is a pair of sneakers and my passion for fitness. It also costs less than half of what I was paying at my old gym. It's so wrong.

Feeling good, though. I got an air conditioner. Holler. I watched The Orphanage. I didn't have to watch it alone, thank heaven. It was so good, you guys. Good movie. Good scares.

If you need a smile, click here.

(And how beautiful is Chloe? Seriously?)

I no can has AC.

The huge unit sitting in the window that I made a note of when I came to look at this place is not functional, and hasn't been for years. Nice trick. I have to go buy one now. Awesome. Not going to help me much tonight.

Anyway!

This weekend I went to Philadelphia to perform with another pit group at the PHIT. It was super awesome and fun. We had great shows and had a party and saw a lot of skeletons. I actually said to myself, as I was flitting around the gorgeous mansion where we were staying "I haven't had this much fun in a really long time. I love this, and I am glad I came." And I meant it!
We saw the Liberty Bell and the Mutter museum, which is a doctors museum, which is an excuse to show people tumorous balls in jar and shrunken heads. There was a 50 pound colon! For real! MEGACOLON!

Philadelphia smells like fresh laundry and lavender. I'd live there if I had to.

I realize a photo post of this trip is interesting to a very small group of people, but I am still going to post them, because I am in that group. So.

Going to Philly tomorrow to do a show. Very nice. I am "stoked" to get out of the city, even if it's just for a bit. I haven't been there in I think, possibly, ten years. Then it was also to do a show. I remember having a good time going out, but I remember nothing of the show, at all, but we did short form, so that's probably a good thing.[/snobbery] Photos forthcoming, if I don't forget batteries.

Oh also, Therapy Thursdays=Awesome this is good for me + Crap, I actually have to talk about this bullshit now, don't I?

02 June 2008

I wore a babydoll nightgown to work today. It looks like a shirt, and now I don't have to change for bed!
I wore pants, too. Backwards for half the day, by accident.

I have a movie called The Orphanage that is just sitting here. I am too scared to watch it alone. When did that happen?

out

I have 700 pictures of people gathered around Ryan and Kristen's tv doing exactly this. I keep taking them, though.

I've been feeling a lot better lately, and as a result I've been over-socializing and overstimulated. Time for naps and water and quiet and . . not spending so much dough.

The The Big Bang Theory Theory

States that if you give me salty noodles, a cold beer and an evening off I will enjoy anything you put in front of me. I am currently testing it with an episode of Stargate SG-1 and . . . this one needs a few more rounds in the lab.

Well-we'll be safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley

Pleasantville is a fantastic movie.

blogs are the crying in the bathroom of the internet

So, my family is kind of going through some stuff, and my home life . . . needs work. Some of the bright spots in my social life have burned out, all within the past two weeks. It happens. It's all just life stuff that you have to deal with, but I feel like my heart is an open wound and everything is hitting it extra hard. I don't know what to do about any of it, so I just get up and take a shower and just let myself feel this way until I'm done. I hate to complain about my life because I know other people have it so much harder, but right now I just can't get a handle on any sweetness. I just feel all bad all the time and I can't get on top of it. It's really not like me.

I'm trying to think about nice things. A practice in positivity. Here are some:

1. I've got some projects coming up, and today an email subject said "directions to rock and roll practice". I take my rock and roll practice very seriously, please do show me the way.
2. I have better friends than I could possibly deserve.
3. I had a steak on Saturday from Paladar, perpetually fantastic. And a few pieces of someone else's steak tonight at Cup. Normally I wouldn't order a steak at a diner that looks like a communal shower, but it was not that bad.
4. A few years ago I was in a Second City revue class with a guy who had just left the army. We had a scene where we were a couple and we had our arms around each other for the whole scene. Rehearsal after rehearsal, show after show. That dude had back muscles that I still dream about. I wonder what he's up to.

26 May 2008

A review of the new Indiana Jones movie by an 8 year old.

I liked how everything was loud and funny. I liked the younger boy and his sock hop look. I noticed how the ancient Homer Simpsons brought knowledge to the mayans like farming and irrigating and how to make complicated locks but then the actual people who lived there only say oogabooga and throw weapons but then we learned that too much learning makes your head explode which is how I feel when i have too much HW so that was good. The actors did a good job and it is cute when old people hug. I give it 3/4 of a smile out of a whole face.
"Picture it's Friday, and you've just lost the game. Now open your eyes. How do you feel?"

" . . . like poo."

"All right, well . . . we have an opportunity to not feel like poo."

I'm going to try to start working this into conversations:
Wow! This dope is super! I feel great!

I'd post pictures of myself, but not until I learn that cameras do not shoot bullets.

"I don't know what I'd do if I came home to find him in a dress."

Imagine your favorite show, of which you've seen every episode. Then five years go by. Then you rent something by accident that you realize is not only an episode you've never seen, but the best episode. the FIRST episode.
I am watching the pilot episode of Kids in the Hall. I'm pretty sure I've never seen this, though I thought I had. It's like beautiful theater. They're geniuses. "They're children!"
I'm going to watch it again when it's over. This is really great.
Yeah, I . . . couldn't quite stay away.

13 May 2008

My mom brought some of her wedding pictures down to new york this weekend for some reason, and I scanned the one below. It's the last picture in their wedding album and it makes me smile. Dad in his little fruit hat. Weirdos.

My horoscope said today that I am going to GO! TOO! FAR! and push away the people I am trying to attract. Well. Ok. I'll keep to myself for the rest of the day if you say so, weird lady in a cape, but I am not making any promises.

08 May 2008

need:
a nice picture of myself with my hair like this, because I am GROWING IT OUT FOREVER.
my muuuuusic! My itunes is so empty, so so empty.
to get off the computer and go to the gym before I lie down and sleep until it's too late.
groceries

like:
I've had 2 steaks in the past month. I am enjoying the re-introduction of delicious beef into my life.
That Iron Man film. Quite the ride!

have:
a mom coming into town tomorrow
a place in a lottery pool
a camera I haven't used in a whole week.

I am probably going to be winding this blog up pretty soon. I'm going to sleep on it for a few more days, just because it's kind of a big decision. I've enjoyed it quite a lot, but these days very few people visit anymore, and those who do are mostly my friends, who I could just talk to, if I were the type of person to do that. I'm also starting to feel a little more like it's not a good idea to have so much of my life on display. I'd like people to get to know me through me, not through some weird, badly phrased, old diary entry.
I might do something like a tumblr someday, with pictures I take and kittens and jokes and stuff. But the personal stuff that I put in here before I realized how many people would find it is making me retro-cringe.
It's tough, though. I've had this longer than anything.

yeah. I'm probably going to just take a nap.

04 May 2008

perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

I netflixed and watched the entire second season of Coupling this weekend. Not in the hungry-for-it way I devoured Friday Night Lights, or the sad and addictive way I clung to every episode of Buffy, this is more like the time my uncle caught my cousins smoking and lined five of them up against the garage and made them smoke cigars until they threw up. It's just so cheeky and CLEVAH! And British. And they say "breasts" in every episode. I love the Brits. You got me.
I also can't get the theme song out of my head. Maddening.

I am currently bored out of my mind. Seriously, painfully bored.

03 May 2008

Yesterday, while I was calling in a report, I tipped my head to the side and I felt my desk flip over. Then I had some trouble walking. The ladies at work kicked me out and told me to see my doctor. I was diagnosed with mild vertigo, which is awesome because a) of all the things I could have wrong with me its really manageable and mild and b) it's an old-timey disease, like pleurisy or Legionnaire's or railway spine*. Very steampunk. Also, that explains the times in the past when it's happened and I thought I was diabetic or something worse. F that S! The troubling thing is, my doctor never asked me if I drove, which I think is kind of important. If that happened to me behind the wheel of a car, it would be bad news, indeed. Good thing I am afraid of driving, i guess?

I have to think of something dessertish for this party tonight. The clock is ticking. I wish I were better at being a girl.

*more information about railway spine can be found on the internet.

And it's me!

I like some of these. I'm proud of the Foley. They're dark and blurry, but history will prove: I am into that.
I am nauseated always. Is that a thing?
