ok!
I'm here! What now?

Hello. I don't have nearly as much access to the internet as I used to, so these posts will be sparser (that a word?) than ever before. more at the moblog, of course. until that gets too expensive.

My parents finally went home today, thank the good lord. Now i'm starting to feel more like i live here and less like a clueless tour guide.

Today i am proctoring exams at Columbia. Neat? yes. Tracey let me borrow her gba so i can play pokemon while the kids take heir tests. (not all that jazzed about the p-man, but it's the only game she has. actually it's pretty fun.)

the soap my mom gave me is making me itch. great!

I went to a drum and dance show tonight (which was excellent by the way) and I started thinking about how tonight was the last night I was going to be sleeping in my bed. It's hard. It's hard to stop crying once you start. This is a hard thing to do. I'm not sad. It's just that change. . . . uh. . . . changes you.
The part that hurts the most is thinking about Todd missing me. It hurts me more that he hurts than it hurts me, if that makes sense.
Usually, when I venture into something I can picture it. I can visualize or at least idealize and fantasize about what it's going to be like. Right now, it's like I am jumping into a void. I cannot imagine what my life is going to be like after tomorrow. I think that should scare me more than it does. I'm exhausted.

Sorry. I haven't been chained to a desk for the past week so I haven't been posting. Well, here's a conversation between my mother and me yesterday:

mom: (deep, cryptic seriousness) did you hear? thay have curly fries at Andersons now?
me: I . . . hadn't heard.
mom: Well! they didn't for a long time. and then? they had a voting contest-
me: A "voting contest"?
mom: yes. they had a voting contest, and they won. We're so excited. Gigi and I get about three things of gravy.

Gigi is a friend of hers. I don't know what any of it means.

So, I have a lot more socks than I thought I did, and I have a lot of black teeshirts. Way, way too many. I bought four x-files teeshirts at a star trek convention (yeah yeah, sigh) maybe, six years ago. For some reason I bought the biggest size they had, and they have never shrunk. So I have these huge, huge teeshirts that I wouldn't be caught dead wearing out of doors, but I just can't part with them.

Is that a better story than the curly fries story? I think not.

There is something depressing about daytime television. Did I say depressing? I meant awesome.

"It's very scary," said Mary Carey

It is.

My last day here is almost over. Here's hoping they'll take that horrible photo of me off of the website sooner than later. ew.
the 23rd page of the closest book, the fifth sentence on the page:

"The digit you dial in order to get the Direct-Dial telephone to ring can be programmed by your Customer Service Representative."

The closest book was a telephone system programming guide. Sexy.
;)
Sloan is coming to Williamsvillle in May. Oh well. But, seriously? Williamsville? Anyway.

Hilarious.

I woke up screaming last night. I can't say I enjoyed that very much at all.
I'm a little worried about the new york walking, mainly because I'm sweating from bringing coffee and water service to a meeting upstairs. These problems will take care of themselves, I'm sure.

In other news: I'm a sad, sad clown. and my shirt makes me look like a pregnant country western singer. I should change my name to "Trisha".

13 April 2004

I got a job in new york. (squee.) Ok, it's a part-time, short term job, but it's awesome. I'm not sure how much I can say, but I'm working on a promotion for a company and its name ryhmes with "schmintendo".
No more words, let's just have this moment.

Do you feel it?

12 April 2004

4.5 Days left here at this office. My fingers will always automatically type "Please call" every time I open an email.

Easter was good. Families are crazy. There are pics on my moblog. My niece is hilarious.

I watched 2001: A Space Odessey last night. I wanted to kind of bite the bullet and watch it because I never have and I felt like I should. Oh, man. What a great movie. They would never get away with anything like that these days, which sucks.
I am so fucking articulate. It hurts to be this smart sometimes. Anyway.

They were out of peeps at Tops. God hates me.

Is everyone having a "Good Friday"? Ha. Haha.
I am. Our office manager took me out to lunch, I was an hour late and I'm leaving early, and I 'm wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. Thanks, Jesus.
You are 60% geek
You are a geek. Good for you! Considering the endless complexity of the universe, as well as whatever discipline you happen to be most interested in, you'll never be bored as long as you have a good book store, a net connection, and thousands of dollars worth of expensive equipment. Assuming you're a technical geek, you'll be able to afford it, too. If you're not a technical geek, you're geek enough to mate with a technical geek and thereby get the needed dough. Dating tip: Don't date a geek of the same persuasion as you. You'll constantly try to out-geek the other.

I think if something is a gift, and you hate it, you still don't shit all over it to the person who bought it for you. Hello, spoiled. I'm not saying you have to like everything that people buy for you, but let's bitch about it to everyone but the person who but bought it for you. It's just good manners. Whatevah. I'm too sensitive.
Happy Holy Thursday!

Oh my. The fire alarm has been going on and off here lately, so some guys came by to fix it. The panel is right near my desk and the trouble alarm has been going off steadily all morning. I had to go up and plead with the guys to do something about it.
"we'll be finished soon."
"I'll be insane soon, wanna see which happens first?"
My ears hurt, and they do feel like they're bleeding, which is really bad, but now I get where that expression comes from, so it's not a total loss in the end.

Last night I was a busy girl!
-played 10 minutes of Silent Hill II (I've given up, it's too scary. They're going to show the end on x-play this week, and I won't finish it before then, so screw it.)
-played 1 hour of Halo (i am a year late for everything, but yeah: everything they say about Halo? True.)
-watched most of an episode of Firefly (it's better than ok.)
-watched The Magdelene Sisters. It was really good. Not a date movie, I'll tell you that much, but still very good.

Didn't do anything I should have been doing. Anybody have big plans for Dyngus Day? Woohoo!

06 April 2004

Note to self:
Either A: stop wearing mascara
or
B: Stop crying in the bathroom at work.

The whole "moving to new york" thing is starting to hit me in huge, soul-crushing waves.
I actually feel kind of good today, and I think it's related to the fact that it's freezing in up in here.

I really can't wait to not work here anymore. I couldn't love the people more, but I never want to answer another phone ever again. Even if it's for me.

02 April 2004

I left a candle burning all night the other night. Being an idiot is so sessy.
::wink::
The living room smelled nice the next morning. Good thing the house didn't burn down!

I'm working a concert tonight at the Arts Center where I worked when I was in college. I'm working tomorrow night too for some bodybuilding competition, because I need dollars. And before you get all "Woowoo, girlfriend!" please understand that bodybuilders are kind of orange and greasy and gross. I'll try to take pictures.
